The Windham Economic Development Corporation hired Crane Associates of Burlington, Vermont to complete a comprehensive economic analysis that measured and forecasted the town’s economic development capabilities and opportunities. The work involved a detailed competitivity analysis, location quotients, shift-share analysis, a SWOT analysis, several months of primary data collection through interviews with key stakeholders, site visits, a 10-year economic and demographic forecast, and an assessment of baseline existing conditions. The results provide quantifiable documentation of the region’s leading industries. This information formed the basis of Windham’s economic development “targets.” The region’s leading industries are where Windham should focus its limited economic development resources. The final report documents strategies on how to grow these industries in Windham to build a sustainable and resilient local economy.
